The process of replacing your residential roof usually takes about one or four days. The roofing crew will begin by removing all existing roofing materials. Most crews bring in a large dump trailer or dumpster for the debris. Any damaged flashing and edging is also removed during this process. Crews will protect your property by placing tarps over vulnerable plants and by picking up nails and metal scraps with a magnet.
Once the old roofing material has been removed, any repair required for the deck will be taken care of. In some cases, waterproof and ice proof barriers may be placed. Next, a layer of synthetic underlayment paper is installed over the roof. It is tacked in place with button caps. The metal drip edging is nailed up. New flashing is added, and finally the shingles are added. The final step is completing clean up and hauling the debris away.
